Welcome to the Laboratory for Emotion and Stress Assessment (LESA) in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The LESA is coordinated and led by Dr. Lara-Cinisomo.
The mission of the Laboratory for Emotion and Stress Assessment (LESA) is to conduct research that advances our understanding of factors that contribute to diminished emotional wellbeing and increased stress among vulnerable populations, particularly racial and ethnic minorities, perinatal women, children, and military-affiliated individuals.
Team lab meetings are held on a biweekly basis. Please contact Dr. Lara-Cinisomo for times and locations.
Professor Lara-Cinisomo Appears on WDWS
KCH Associate Professor Dr. Sandraluz Lara-Cinisomo appeared on radio station WDWS-AM on Wednesday to discuss her upcoming studies, AgeCareVets and VetCareMind.
AgeCareVets is trying to understand the needs and experiences of caregivers of Veterans with brain-related disorders to identify and provide recommendations for new programs and services. The aim is to learn how to better support older caregivers of veterans with brain-related injuries.
For VetCareMind, the objective of that study is to modify an in-person mindfulness-based intervention for live stream delivery for informal caregivers of veterans, who provide complex care for longer durations than non-veteran caregivers, often while meeting other life demands. The aim is finding out how to provide a low-cost intervention to informal caregivers of veterans throughout the country.
Dr. Lara-Cinisomo discussed both studies and made an effort to offer ways for possible participants to reach out to her for either study through AgeCareVet or VetCareMind. They can also call 217-244-9363 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
