Professor Lara-Cinisomo Appears on WDWS

KCH Associate Professor Dr. Sandraluz Lara-Cinisomo appeared on radio station WDWS-AM on Wednesday to discuss her upcoming studies, AgeCareVets and VetCareMind.

AgeCareVets is trying to understand the needs and experiences of caregivers of Veterans with brain-related disorders to identify and provide recommendations for new programs and services. The aim is to learn how to better support older caregivers of veterans with brain-related injuries.

For VetCareMind, the objective of that study is to modify an in-person mindfulness-based intervention for live stream delivery for informal caregivers of veterans, who provide complex care for longer durations than non-veteran caregivers, often while meeting other life demands. The aim is finding out how to provide a low-cost intervention to informal caregivers of veterans throughout the country.

Dr. Lara-Cinisomo discussed both studies and made an effort to offer ways for possible participants to reach out to her for either study through AgeCareVet or VetCareMind. They can also call 217-244-9363 or email vetcaremind@illinois.edu or agecarevet@illinois.edu
